E-Light Skin Rejuvenation

Intense pulsed light, commonly abbreviated as IPL, is a technology used by medical practitioners and beauty spas to perform various skin treatments including hair removal and photorejuvenation. The technology utilizes specific wavelengths of light to target various chromophores in the skin. IPL is a non-invasive treatment that does not disrupt the surface of the skin. It has a low risk of complications and very little recovery time. It uses optical energy to treat a variety of conditions.

E-Light is the combined energy technology of optical (light) and bi-polar RF (radio frequency) for a deeper and more effective dermal penetration. There are some contraindications for the use of E-light so for those individuals they can still receive IPL treatments.

What is the treatment like?
A cooling gel is applied first, then the hand piece is placed on the skin. The hand piece also has a cooling plate to protect the skin. When the pulse is delivered, you may feel a mild, brief stinging sensation, similar to a rubber band snap. Immediately following the treatment you will have a slight reddening and pigmented spots will appear darker. The reddening will subside in a few hours and the darker spots will fade and flake off over the next couple weeks. If you are receiving a hair reduction treatment, the hair follicle will appear as red spots for several hours.

How many treatments will I need?
Hair reduction and skin rejuvenation typically take 4 – 6 treatments. Hair reduction treatments are spaced 4 – 8 weeks apart depending on the body part. Skin rejuvenation treatments are scheduled 3 weeks apart.
